- Steam and energy systems
2. Product Features
- Simple and Robust Design: No moving parts ensure high reliability and long-term stable performance.
- Easy Installation and Maintenance: Compact structure simplifies setup and reduces maintenance costs.
- Non-Contact Sensor: The detection sensor does not directly contact the fluid, enhancing stability and longevity.
- High Accuracy: Provides precise pulse signals proportional to flow rate, with no zero-point drift.
- Wide Measurement Range: Supports a turndown ratio of up to 1:10 for versatile applications.
- Energy Efficiency: Low pressure loss reduces operational costs and contributes to energy savings.
- Low Power Consumption: Operates with ultra-low power, with a battery life exceeding two years.
- Integrated Compensation: Combines temperature and pressure compensation for accurate flow and cumulative readings without the need for manual switching.
3. Working Principle
The vortex flow meter measures flow based on the principle of “Kármán Vortex Street.” When the medium flows past a triangular bluff body at a certain velocity, alternating vortices are generated behind the body. These vortices create pressure pulsations, which are detected by a piezoelectric element in the sensor.
The frequency of the vortices (f) is proportional to the fluid velocity (V) and can be expressed as:
f = Sr × V / d
Where:
- f = Vortex frequency
- Sr = Strouhal number (~0.16 for stable flow)
- d = Width of the bluff body
By detecting the vortex frequency, the flow meter calculates the fluid flow rate, providing real-time measurements.
